Malcolm Frost was a paranormal expert. Present at the "Hellboy Incident", he urged for the destruction of Hellboy due to his demonic nature. Frost became ever more obsessed in his hatred of Hellboy over the next decade, culminating in his suicide when he could not convince others of his cause.

History

Malcolm Frost was one of three paranormal experts assembled by Sergeant George Whitman in 1944, alongside Trevor Bruttenholm and Lady Cynthia Eden-Jones, also joined by The Torch of Liberty. Frost was present during the "Hellboy Incident" – after seeing the young Hellboy summoned to Earth, a panicked Frost urged Sgt. Whitman to shoot down the creature; his compatriots were not threatened by its appearance, and as cooler heads prevailed the child was spared.^[2]

Over the next several years, Frost become increasingly desperate and paranoid as his diatribes against Hellboy fell on increasingly deaf ears. He had been friends with Bruttenholm,^[3] but their friendship swiftly deteriorated (particularly after Bruttenholm's 1946 adoption of Hellboy)^[1] to the point where Frost considered Broom to be an agent of Satan.^[4]

Hellboy was granted honorary human status on August 6, 1952,^[1] which only increased Frost's consternation. In response, he secretly tasked renegade B.P.R.D. agent Robert Amsel with eliminating Hellboy during his first mission. When Amsel failed, Frost then advanced the plan to assassinating Trevor Bruttenholm. Just as Frost proposed this new plan to Amsel, the latter was supernaturally immolated by the demon Varvara. As she worked with Broom, she similarly threatened Frost to discourage him from executing his plan.^[4] His spirit broken by this confluence of events, Frost committed suicide shortly after.^[1][3]

• Frost appears briefly in the Hellboy Animated film Blood and Iron during two flashback scenes.
  • The first is Hellboy's appearance on Earth, where Frost urges that the creature be killed.
  • The second occurs near the end of the film (chronologically the first of the flashback scenes) when Professor Bruttenholm is preparing to depart the United States for Romania, and Frost tells him he does not have to face the vampire alone. In the scene a scrap of parchment like that from "The Right Hand of Doom" can been seen.
• Frost appears in the 2019 film, portrayed by Carl Hampe.
