Russell, along with agents Simon Anders, Gabriel Ruiz and Jacob Stegner, was deployed to Chateau Lac D'Annecy, France to investigate the attacks on Nazi war criminals by the vampire Baron Konig. After drinking at a village tavern, Anders was separated from the rest of group by an illusion cast by the spirit of vampire Katherina Brezina, who took him to the Chateau . The next morning, the three remaining operatives visited the chateau, where they discovered Anders' notebook and other personal effects. The agents then discovered two empty coffins, which bore the image of Katherina Brezina as well as her sister Annaliese. But uncovering these coffins awoke a mob of undead creatures, which promptly killed Russell along with his comrade Gabriel Ruiz.
